I liked the story because the soldier went trough all adventures with his head up. He thought he cant cry or be scared because he has soldier uniform on. But the end of the story is sad.

My traditional Christmas gift to a good friend is a palm-size lidded jewelry box, brass hinges, polished, wrapped with a bow. Inside, exchanged yearly are small treasures, this year a Steadfast Tin Soldier,. twenty plus shiny penny, a golden broach, a cat sniffing a goldfish in a fishbowl, six Elvis Presley trading cards and a packet of Morning Glory flower seeds. The Steadfast Tin Soldier, earlier in his life proudly holds sword and stands with both legs before battle. My friend is a toy ballerina in spirit.
